This one, at least for Nextel, is a two-for-one bargain for getting some portable mechanical combat gaming in. For Nextel both are currently sold under one easy subscription under Battlepack but I'm sounding like a commercial here lol so on with what these two games are about!
MECH is definitely for those who like BattleTech, or even Robotech or Gundam mecha media as you pilot a towering metal robot that's fully customisable from the chassis on out to the coatings. Collect a stable of up to five MECHs using MCreds earned from arena combat or skirmishes out in a world against other MECHs, PLayers and Their clans, with numerous towns to find, each selling progressively more powerful weaponry and armoring for your MECHs. This one takes me right back to BattleTech days minus the rolling dice for each individual missile hit and spending long hours just building each unit.
Bots2: Rumble! is a robotic fighting game where you build wheeled, treaded or legged robots in four different body types and the selection of weapons each body type can use, some exclusive to just the type you're presently building or modifying and upgrading. Here as in MECH, you can build and keep up to 5 units and constantly improve on previous designs with cash you get from one-on-one battles, free for all or team Rumbles and even facing the dreaded AI Bots when there's noone brave enough to face your metal monsters.
{Just a starter thread, rough draft designed lol, feel free to build upon and improve.}
Edit: Forgot to add for Bots2, your Chat client linked from the frontpage is Flash'Em, a chat / messaging / card / bulletin wall type community, which will have it's own subscription cost. MECH however, has chats in each town. 3 Open general chats, and 2 exclusive ones Just for Newbies or Just for Experts, going by the Value given your piloted MECH. I'd say for straight up gaming talk MECH's chats would work for both, Flash's more of a general/adult chat option but thre are more intersting folks to meet and read there. {To say the least lol.}
Edit: Sorry about the AllCaps? They're highlighted in warning red lol, it's just how the game's title looks on it's frontpage, no screaming intended.
Directions on how to get there, in hindsight, would be a good idea. Here goes. From your Nextel web-enabled handset:
Openwave Browser > News, Sports & More > Entertainment > Fun & Games > Action/Adventure > Battle Pack
That'll get you to Bots & Mech, you'll also see Shade there as well.
Gotta correct, the idea of fully customizable Mechs isn't accurate, you'll still have the same 7 chassis types, but you Can name and weapon up your Mech to your heart's metal desire, same with Bots2 but their's is 4 body types, all of the above is listed in the poll above.^
Mech is multiplayer, heavy metal destruction on a massive scale. You'll build towering metal beasts bristling with hi-tech weaponry and defensive systems. You'll fight in the Arena and out in the world in your quest for massive creds. Bust up your opponents.
Since that strange days-long data slipping glitch, that's been attributed to the games files being shipped over piecemeal to AOL Games, alot of folks have lost their original characters, clans and mechs/bots so I currently have no massive army of metal monsters to brag about still slowly and lazily restructuring. Building is fun though!
About Battlepack: This action-packed duo will give you two of the most cuttin edge multiplayer games on the air! Bots is a fast paced action title in which you build a Bot and fight it against other Bots in the BotArena. In Mech you will explore the vast wastelands in your massive walking arsenal, seeking new cities and fighting for honor and riches!
Still not sure totally what happened to the games, that caused those events, but it looks like things have mellowed out, minus whatever we might have had before lol. So it's with cautious optimism I'm re-establishing my foot-hold in each and enthusiasm for both as they're otherwise great games and can be again.
In Bots2, I've retired my cheesey little Wedgebot "Repugnus" and have started in using a Spinnerbot named "Abominus" slowly but surely saving cash to rebuild another dreaded nasty quartet of metal menaces.
In Mech, probably the last clan I'll ever make there because I'm all outta clan tags I can credibly lay claim to ever having used, {ORC} now walks the wastelands. {ORC} was a clan I had in Lord Of The Rings Middle Earth War, a kind of nod and spoof of a fellow player's ELF Clan. I figured why not have an ORC Clan? Less refined but more hedonistic then those sophisticated noble ELF Folk?
In Mech, the ORC I have now is a spoof of two Inner Sphere Houses of BattleTech, a related game. House Davion and the Draconis Combine as The House Maximalian & Predaconus Combine. A nod / tribute / spoof to Transformers Beast Wars as well and their Heroic Maximals fighting the evil Predacons etc. Nice to have all the elements of previous fun blended together insanely into one mishmash collage of chaos. Haven't even come up with rules for membership on this one. Follow the Game's TOS and have fun! Otherwise Wreck And Rule!
In the Proud Unknown Tradition of my own, the Portmanteau-like namings of fearsome quartets of bots continues down the line from days of yore. Way back from Sawnnet, Wrekqium, Dirdge & Funeroll. From the recently lost Ifritank, Bludjinn, Gnomecha & Undinamo. Now to the Happiness Enforcers, Smile or be ScRaPpEd! For now you shall face Insultan, Adjester, Riddlord & Satyrant! Guaranteed to beat smiles into your bot's armorings one impact at a time. {Now watch, these get erased too lol grRrRdArNiT.}
Okay, in my last reply, to myself, on this thread, I'll just update you. The freakish foursome: Satyrant, Riddlord, Insultan & Adjester have been scrapped, their purpose served, their money made. They were a joke anyways, get it? Satyr, Jest, Insult, Riddle..., Blah. So now we're onto serious Bots designing, names that let em know we mean business. Like FishTank, MausTrap, BugLight & BirdCage are there to do just that. The Pet Shop Bots. I was gonna go with the Four Horsepowers of The Abotsalypse, but was stuck for names.
And now with the Menus changes, Capcom deciding they'll go ahead and take the blame for some of these games lol jk credit, it's bringing in alot more players to Bots. Bots is finally back on Boost, in short if you can find Shade, you can find Bots. Just head on out to the frontpage, scroll down, select. The weird groupings AOL Games, Cosmic Games, CAPCOM Games is still seen, but we can figure out it. So in small ways we're seeing game Updates, just not in the form we expected. The scenery is different so that means the car is moving... Somewhere lol.
:D I will probably be seeing YOU in the War Rooms, I've already taken on two of your precious Shade pkillers out quickly and brutally in Bots, they've yet to come back for more. But heck, I win or I lose it's still a fun game no matter how much profanity happens offscreen. I just wish I could get a listen on it sometimes lmao opponents, not just mine. So instead of Shade's ThunderDome, for those who can access this, Bots ensures no Gear - Exp - Title loss, no Cheating, no drama. Besides, I think those Flash'Em chatters are calling us out lol. :D
