So I loved Final Fight in my youth. Here comes a PSN release! Sweet. Now my kids can play it just like I used to. Except that my kids' user accounts (on the same PS3) aren't online. They are offline only. But wait, this game I just bought doesn't let you play the game unless you're logged in to PSN. So unless I log myself into PSN on my account and let the kids play on my account, they can't play? So they can't get their own trophies and high scores and save games? Seriously? It would be one thing if there was a disclaimer letting me know this up front, but there is not. I would not have bought this game if I'd known about this.

Lemme guess, same guy who was bitching and moaning about this issue on IGN Boards? Yeah, it sucks... but that's life. Guess you just gotta deal with it.

I'm fairly certain it's related to a measure undertaken to keep people from gamesharing the game. Sorry you're upset, but be angry at gamesharers and such that it had to come to this. You could alway create a new account with internet access for this game. You'd still have to sign your kids into it if you're that afraid your kids are going to misuse the PS3's internet or something, and the Trophies/high scores won't be linked to their actual account. But at least this way they can get trophies/high scores seperate from yours.

Yes Bryan - same guy. But it occured to me that maybe Capcom would be more likely to read my complaint here than on the IGN boards. As for the suggestion of setting up another account on my PS3, I actually tried that last night and guess what? It doesn't work. It's not just that you have to be on PSN - you have to be logged in on the original purchaser's account. Effectively, every user on a single PS3 would have to purchase their own copy of the game. That's just ridiculous. Yes, I know they did this to stop the game-sharers, but guess what? From the game-sharers, Capcom would have got 1 sale out of 5. Now the game-sharers will shun the game and they'll get 0 out of 5. Meanwhile, the paying consumer gets hosed.

Here is a response from capcom answering someones question about ffdi not playable off-line Enrique, I'm sorry for the inconvenience, but there is nothing for us to "fix". It is working as intended using the more secure form of authentication enabled by Sony (the same one they use on most of their own first party digital releases).

Thanks. I saw that just now myself. Assuming it's true, Capcom just turned a big fan and advocate into someone who will actively campaign against them. Hope it was worth the $10 for them.

Incorrect.
You have to be signed in AS THE ORIGINAL PURCHASER. No other users accounts on the same PS3 can play the game because they are not signed in AS THE ORIGINAL PURCHASER.

Send in a complaint. It's what I am doing. I am also going to let them know that I will not be making any future purchases of games that do this.

How about getting my story published in an IGN news article? ps3.ign.com/articles/108/1085230p1.html
